The Fishing
Alaska is known as one of the top angling destinations in the world because of the incredible Salmon runs, bountiful Rainbow Trout, record Halibut and famed Crab fishing to name a few.
The fishing opportunities are endless and the quality no matter where you go and what you fish for is, in our opinion, unmatched. Steelhead fishing in Alaska is no exception. In fact, we believe it to be the all around best in the world. Whether it be the sheer numbers of fish, diverse angling opportunities or the low fishing pressure, we are confident that you will agree that this is the premier steelhead destination for anglers of all ages and abilities. Although our main focus is steelhead most of our season we also target Silver Salmon, Dolly Varden & Rainbow Trout. Learn more about the fishing here.
Travel Details
Depart from your preferred airport and arrive in Anchorage, AK. Prior to arriving, you will need to book your flight from Anchorage to Kenai, AK through Grant Aviation or Ravn Alaska.
You are able to book online or call either companies representatives, they are very helpful and will assist you with purchasing the proper flight based on your arrival time in Anchorage. These flights are affordable, typically around $135. The flight to Kenai is roughly 20 minutes and offers breathtaking scenery. An Alaska Steelhead Co. host will be there to greet you upon your arrival to the Kenai airport! While in Kenai, you are able to make a quick stop at the liquor store and/or pick up anything you forgot to pack. You and your host will then make the scenic 40 or 60 minute drive to one of our teo lodges and cabins.
Lodging
As proud as we are to provide world-class steelhead fishing, we are equally proud to offer our guests a luxurious and unforgettable Alaska fishing lodge experience. For our 2026 season and our 13th year as the premiere steelhead outfitter in south central Alaska we will be announcing our newly remodeled lodge and cabins in the heart of steelhead country.
Rooms and cabins will be thoughtfully appointed with all the comforts of home and can be double or even single occupancy upon request and availability. Both the lodge and cabins are complete with rod and reel racks, boot dryers, wader storage, living area, a fully stocked wet bar or full bar in the lodge refreshed daily, and a deck with outdoor seating to soak in the Alaska air and enjoy the view while enjoying complimentary draft beer and wine. The lodge and guest cabins are equipped with Wi-Fi and satellite TV. For your convenience, Laundry Service is available for $25 per load, so you are able to pack light and enjoy your favorite gear throughout your stay. Additionally, we offer the services of an on-site masseuse for the ultimate relaxation after fishing. For some added fun and entertainment we offer a Welcome Party with live music on the arrival day and we also close out the week with a local band and farewell party with the entire ASC staff and guides there to send you off. Our on-site heli pad outside the lodge brings convenience to another level on your fly out days. There’s nothing like getting out of a helicopter after an epic day of fishing to be greeted by our staff with your favorite drink and a hot towel.
No trip to Alaska is complete without unforgettable wildlife encounters while at the lodge. It’s not uncommon to see moose wandering the property, bald eagles soaring by or even the occasional lynx. For the more adventurous guests willing to stay up late, the famous Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, occasionally paints the sky in dazzling displays during this time of year.
Meals
Meals are very important to us at The Alaska Steelhead Company. Chef Felix Barron begins the day before sunrise by preparing good, strong coffee and a hearty breakfast.
Everyone then leaves stocked for the day with a custom-packed shore-side lunch, as well as plenty of snacks and drinks to keep you going. On the colder days Chef Felix makes sure you have a thermos of soup and the guides prepare coffee, hot cider and hot chocolate. Feel free to bring a flask as well…you’ve got to love a hot cider with a little splash of whiskey to warm you up! Expect the dinners to be local and fresh, consisting of sushi, scallops, shrimp, halibut, salmon, king crab, clams, oysters, caribou, beef, just to name “a few”. We spare no expense on the finest Alaskan fare there is to offer. Chef Felix is always more than happy to accommodate any dietary needs or even just a request for a specific craving!
