The Lodge
Our Clam Gulch Lodge is a well appointed but modest lodge and guest cabin option in August and early September. In addition to some of the hottest steelhead of the season, it is also peak timing for Rainbow Trout and Silver Salmon making our Clam Gulch Lodge a sought after option for those that may want to catch multiple species during the prime time. The Clam Gulch Lodge itself is mainly a place to sit down to a 5 star meal. Guests tend to enjoy the Alaskan outdoors and have drinks and apps on the deck, hang around one of the many fire pits or relax at our seating on the bluff. The Clam Gulch Lodge is perfectly located and equidistant to two of our favorite steelhead rivers. We are also close to the Kenai River and those trophy Rainbow Trout we like to target some days during the Clam Gulch Lodge dates.
The main lodge and four guest cabins are perched on the edge of a 200 ft. bluff overlooking Cook Inlet, glaciers, and the famed active volcanoes Redoubt, Iliamna, Spur and Augustine. The views are absolutely breathtaking morning, day and night. There is nothing better than closing an incredible day of fishing by watching one of the most beautiful sunsets one can ever see! All while trading stories and pictures over drinks and hors d’oeuvres on the bluff before a three course meal in the main lodge.
Each cabin has its own fire pit that is restocked daily if you would like to have your own personal fire. Your front deck is complete with outdoor seating to enjoy after dinner before you retire to the solitude of your cabin. All guest cabins consist of a fully equipped kitchen in case you like to have snacks or coffee in your room, a seating area with a flat screen TV, gas fireplace, and two queen beds in separate rooms.Your bathroom is also equipped with a state of the art washer and dryer so you can pack light and wash your favorite clothing during your stay. Each cabin also has its own wifi and satellite TV.
No trip to Alaska is complete without wildlife sightings and with the occasional moose dropping by the cabins, bald eagles flying next to the bluff, and seals and whales in the bay you are sure to have a true Alaskan experience. For the more adventurous guests that are willing to stay up late, you can sometimes catch a glimpse of the famous Aurora Borealis “Northern Lights”.
Overall our Clam Gulch Lodge is a less expensive option for the serious angler that wants to be in Alaska during the peak time for fly fishing, fly outs for Silver Salmon, trophy Rainbow Trout and extra hot steelhead but still prefers a very comfortable private cabin with incredible views, 5 star meals and great camaraderie in the Alaskan outdoors.
Meals are very important to us at The Alaska Steelhead Company. Our Chef and Sous Chef begin each day well before sunrise by preparing good, strong coffee and a hearty breakfast. While out on the river anglers enjoy a custom shore lunch consisting of soup and sandwich, as well as plenty of snacks and drinks to keep you going. On the colder days, guides prepare coffee, hot cider and hot chocolate on the boats as well. Feel free to bring a flask…you’ve got to love a hot cider with a little splash of whiskey to warm you up!
Expect every dinner to be the caliber of a 5 star restaurant. Guests are blown away every evening after enjoying their 3 course meal. We source fresh and local ingredients, consisting of sushi, scallops, shrimp, halibut, salmon, king crab, clams, oysters, caribou, and beef, just to name “a few”. We spare no expense on the finest Alaskan fare there is to offer. Our chefs are always more than happy to accommodate any and all dietary needs or even just a request for a specific craving. If you are a fisherman and a foodie look no further, Alaska Steelhead Co. is all that and more!
